The Palestinian Food Composition Online Databank was established in 2017. This online nutrition information system included a comprehensive database of Palestinaian food recipes. The system has 6800 recipes and 15 thousand food items classified according to food groups and analyzed up to 80 nutrient intakes. The food recipes were developed based on a continuous 24-hour recall national surveys that cover the majority of the Palestinian food consumption. The data were analysed experimentally and analytically using the university labs and the USDA database and Nutribase software.
Al-Quds University food databank team includes researchers, nutritionists, and programmers. This system was designed with the expectations to benefit different groups. Researchers, students, and policy makers will benefit from this system as it will guide them to further develop nutrition research and provide evidence-based policies. Particularly in areas of public health and food security where modules that serve both purposes are in progress.
