Dr. Basma Dashti

Ms. Basma Dashti joined Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research in 1986 as a research assistant in the Food Technology group with a biochemistry degree. She currently occupies the position of Associate Research Scientist in the Food and Nutrition program - Environment and Life Sciences Research Center(F&N/ELSRC) at KISR - with over 30 years of experience in the research fields of food technology, food safety, and nutrition. She was task leader and team member in many research activities in KISR and has authored and co-authored several scientific publications including research papers and conference paper proceedings. She has led three projects; two completed and one in progress in the field of food composition data. She is one of the authors of the book entitled “Kuwaiti food composition tables”. She is also the Vice Coordinator of Middle East & Gulf Food( INFOODS). Currently, She is working on implementing Regional Food composition data for the Arabian Gulf member states countries based on international and standardized procedures . Moreover, she is a temporary advisor in WHO for the development of food composition. Dashti is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International conference of Data Bank for two consecutive years.
