The Department of Nutrition was established in 2000 and is one of seven departments in the Ministry of Health (MOH) under the Directorate General for Primary Health Care, The Department has two sections: Community Nutrition section responsible for programs related to prevention and management of malnutrition among infants and young children, social marketing of child nutrition and micronutrients, nutritional anemia as well as micronutrients control programs, establishment and promotion of food based dietary guidelines of healthy diet and combat obesity, and quality assurance of primary health care related to nutrition clinic. Health specifications for food section responsible for Provide technical support to all those working in the field of food safety and control. The department is working with other sector for a large survey (National nutrition survey) during the 9th five year plan of the Ministry of health

A clinical Dietitian earned BSc in Health Sciences (Nutrition and Dietetics), Working under the community nutrition section at the Department of Nutrition, Oman-MoH. The area of expertise are Dietetics, community nutrition, food safety, food specifications and standards and food labelling and administrative work. Excellent nutrition communicator as its evidenced by the active participation in wide range of nutritional awareness programs through different channels of media e.g. Radio, TV (Live Programs) & newspaper. Participated in the team of the secretary of the Global strategy in Diet, Physical Activity and Health”. Working at multi-Sectoral level and organized several workshops in tailoring and transforming the activities of those sectors into the strategy. Participated as a meal planner and field work researcher in the study:” the effect of fish consumption on omega-3 fatty acids and cognitive levels among school children (2013-2014) Participated in several surveys and studies such as the latest " he National Nutrition Survey (2017) as field work supervision and audit visits. Additionally, contributed to the quality control of the survey’s questionnaires after field work and before the data entry. Participated as a speaker in various national and international conferences.
