EMFID platform was officially established in 2021 under the supervision of the World Health Organization in collaboration with Al-Quds University.
EMFID is a collaboration of the Eastern Mediterranean countries designated to provide the first comprehensive food data of the region. Its aim is to provide standardized and up-to-date food composition data for the purposes of sustaining and improving healthcare, education, research, and policymaking. Standardized food composition tables, derived from the most widely consumed recipes in each country, represent the cornerstone for the food data analysis and presentation.
Currently, the platform provides a basic view of food items, recipes, and nutrients intake analysis as a web-view. Soon the mobile application will be developed and released.
Our goal is to provide the first up-to-date comprehensive food information from the Eastern Mediterranean countries who share similar food consumption patterns. This platform will enhance data accessibility, storage and communication, and facilitate further data quality validation and improvement, in an attempt to provide food data for further uses and applications for the public and the private sectors.
