Management Board
The platform’s management board roles are namely project planning and development, decision making, and provision of scientific input as required. The members are appointed every three years.
The responsibilities of the management board are:
- Coordinate EMFID development activities at the Eastern Mediterranean level;
- Establish an administrative and operational framework for EMFID;
- Supervise the data bank services and activities of the EMFID platform;
- Stimulate national and regional collaboration for food database development;
- Represent EMFID at international workshops and conferences;
- Support capacity building at regional and national levels;
- Organize and support EMFID dissemination activities;
- Establish the EMFID international advisory committee.
The members of the management board are :
Dr.Radwan Qasrawi
Director of EMFIDAn expert in information and communication technologies. His research combines computer engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and biomedical engineering to study and develop advanced and hi-tech solutions in the fields of health and medicine at the national and global levels. He is the founder of The Palestinian Food Composition Online Databank was in 2017. The platform provides information on Palestinian food composition and intake. Furthermore, The Palestinian Food Composition Online Databank provides nutrition management and prevention for the public, schoolchildren and healthcare system. He has more than 60 published peer review articles in scientific journals and produced several technological solutions for national health-related problems such as diabetes, cancer and chronic kidney diseases.
Dr.Ayoub Al Jawaldeh
MemberAn expert, programme manager, researcher and lecturer in human nutrition who simultaneously manages multiple international executive functions including nutrition policies and strategies, research and capacity building programmes; providing technical expertise to 22 countries in Eastern Mediterranean Region, addressing double burden of malnutrition including under-nutrition and over-nutrition and non-communicable diseases.
